- Can anyone share some ideas on good PD/Shareware to use? I have an
- A3000/030/25MHz, 2MB Chip RAM, 4MB Fast RAM on motherboard,
- 8MB SupraRAM card (16-bit RAM), WB v2.1, soft-kicked ROM, etc.
-
- How about these programs? Any good? Any known problems?
-
- - fbl (fASTERblIT...for better graphics routines)
- - CPUBlit (for better graphics routines...which is better, fbl or this
- one?)
- - FastExec (I think it moves exec.library in Fast RAM?)
- - SetMan (I forget what this one does...it was in my startup-sequence)
- - SaferPatches (allows safer patching of OS)
- - BootScreen (shows specified picture on boot-up)
- - CopyMemQuicker
- - BindNames (new way of handling ASSIGNs)
- - TRTPatch (patches some functions to use reqtools.library)
- - PathManager Prefs (easier way to set up PATHs)
- - SetAlert (gives more info on Guru I think...)
- - Chop (press ALT-HELP to cut screen bitplanes to 2 (speeds system))
- - MemPerform (supposed to decrease memory defragmentation, but my
- system seemed to crash more often when I used it)
- - AddMenu (adds your menu items below Tools in WB menubar)
- - AddPower (commodity offering variety of system enhancements)
- - DMABlanker (screen blanker, also disables DMA while blanked to speed
- system (I think))
- - DropIt! (places icon on WB for dropping files onto for executing)
- - GrabIFF (lets you grab screen or part of screen)
- - LastAlert2 (gives info on Guru after re-booting)
- - MagicMenu (pops up menu at pointer)
- - MFS (Multi-File System...handles multiple devices per drive (DS0:, PC0:)
- - MouseBlanker (blanks mouse pointer after set time)
- - NoteIt! (notepad on WB for keeping notes)
- - PopFile (I think it inserts path of file selected from a file requester)
- - Remind (commodity - reminder-type program)
- - TinyClock (clock on WB)
- - WBExtender (gives system info in WB menubar...memory stats, etc.)
- - WKSC (lets you alter keyboard shortcuts for WB menu commands)
- - xData (specifies programs that are to recognize XPK-packed projects)
-
- If you have had any problems with any of these programs such as your system
- crashing or conflicts with another program, please post here and let the
- rest of us know. Tell us about your setup (CPU, OS version, etc.). If you
- know of any better replacements, also inform us.
-
- Thanks.
